Sunday Morning Worship

Oct 18, 2026  •  Rev. Rick Stauffer

In “Of Foundations and Roots,” written by Dr. Richard Herman. He points out that the church is its people, not the building, and that Jesus Christ is its only adequate cornerstone. He builds the sermon on the church’s mission statement. First, members are to be grounded in God’s Word by obeying Scripture, not just studying it, like the wise builder who built on rock. Second, they are to stay connected to Christ and one another, like a forest whose shared roots keep every tree strong and where no one is expendable. Third, they are to make an impact through the Holy Spirit. God’s kingdom starts small like a mustard seed, as Homan Walsh’s kite string became the Niagara suspension bridge. Covenant’s 168-year witness has grown from downtown Sharon to the ends of the earth. He closes by urging the congregation to go deeper in Christ, stay connected in love, and keep scattering the seed of the gospel until Jesus returns.
