Prayer

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."  1 Thess.5:16-18

It is the privilege of Covenant Church to connect with others through prayer ... and so we invite you to submit requests below or simply join us in the journey of praying with and for one another. We are blessed by many who join us in prayer from many places around the world as well as many from our own communities. Let's pray together with the certain hope that God will reveal Himself as we seek Him in prayer.

Prayer is central to the life of Covenant Church; it is our humble response to God’s sovereign grace and a means of communication with Him. Grounded in Scripture, we believe prayer does not change God’s will but aligns our hearts with it, as we seek His wisdom, mercy, and power through Christ alone (James 5:16; Philippians 4:6–7).
Through prayer, the Holy Spirit strengthens our faith, guides the church, and equips believers for faithful living, reminding us that apart from God we can do nothing (John 15:5), yet through Him we are invited to approach the throne of grace with confidence (Hebrews 4:16).  This prayer page is a place to share prayer requests and invite others to pray with you. If you are requesting prayer on behalf of someone else, please be sure you have their permission before posting. Please be thoughtful and respectful with the information you share.

3/2 MILD: Our sister-in-law, Rosanne saw a doctor in Pittsburgh about the cancer in her breast.  They are going to do surgery  April 10 to remove the tumor and she may or may not need any radiation.  It depends on what they find. The tumor was discovered during her routine mammogram.   Thanks for your prayers. Carolyn

2/17 COVENANT CHURCH: Lent begins tomorrow (2/18). Make the next 40 days filled with purpose for the mission God has for you including reflection and preparation. Lent is more than a tradition; it is a 40-day spiritual reset modeled after the early Church and Jesus’ time in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11). It is a season to strip away distractions and refocus on God.

Consider taking small actions to live out the biblical themes of repentance and preparation. Try these three practical shifts:

  • Fast with Focus: Don't just give up a habit; replace it. If you cut out social media or a specific food, use that reclaimed time or money for prayer and reflection.

  • Prioritize Silence: Dedicate ten minutes a day to "wilderness time"—quiet prayer where you listen more than you speak.

  • Extend the Hand: Practice radical generosity. Whether through donations or acts of service, move your faith from your head to your hands.

The ashes of Lent remind us of our mortality (Genesis 3:19), but they also prepare us for the fire of the Resurrection. We empty ourselves now so that we can be filled with the joy of Easter.

2/15 MCCANN: Please pray for a family that tragically lost a husband with 4 children and one on the way. They are beyond devastated. Kathy

2/15 COVENANT CHURCH: During today's worship service, we heard an update on one of the missions we support, YoungLife! Their mission is to enter the world of kids to build genuine relationships to point towards Jesus. They meet the kids on their turf and empower students to be leaders in their schools and love kids regardless of their response. The current prayer requests are three-fold: that the current ministries in the school would continue to grow and stabilize, that new ministries develop, and that more local adults would be involved and would support YL.

2/13 COSTELLO: Please pray for our great granddaughter, Frankie, who burned her hand badly this morning when she grabbed her mom’s curling iron. She was treated at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh and she’s doing fine at this point. Please pray for fast healing and no infection. Thank you, Cathy and Frank

2/13 BAKER: Please keep Ruth Alfonso in prayer as she is having surgery today. Annie

2/8 STAUFFER: Gwen had surgery and did great. They kept her overnight. They will let her know if there are any stones lodged in the tube from the gallbladder. That would be another surgery later. Daneen

2/6 COVENANT CHURCH: Bonnie Donley is home and doing well.

2/6 COVENANT CHURCH: Evelyn Spears is undergoing PT at Grove Manor.

2/6 STAUFFER: Please pray for my sister, Gwen Rohde. After having waves of abdominal pain for a few weeks, she is hospitalized and tests revealed gall stones. They are talking about possible surgery but there's too much inflammation right now. Pray for the inflammation to go down, wisdom for the doctors to get to the bottom of this so it does not exacerbate her autoimmune issues. Thank you, Daneen.
