Sunday Morning Worship

Jul 5, 2026    Rev. Rick Stauffer

This sermon walks through Proverbs 3, part of a summer series on the Book of Proverbs written by Solomon for people of every age seeking practical wisdom for life. It moves through three movements: the don'ts, do's, and blessings of verses 1-10; the "Job moment" of verses 11-20, where God's discipline forms us even when blessing seems delayed; and the call in verses 21-35 that wisdom brings peace with God and others. Along the way it wrestles with the danger of treating these verses as guaranteed promises rather than principles, correcting a prosperity-gospel misreading. It closes by identifying Jesus as the wisdom of Proverbs 3 and inviting listeners to approach Him with confidence rather than fear as they come to the Lord's table.
